We’re excited to show you these easy-to-follow steps to create a geometric accent wall into a head-turning masterpiece.

Select Your Benjamin Moore Paint Colors

Superior Paint & Decorating makes it easy to find the right Benjamin Moore paint for your project. Accent walls can be a great way to introduce a fun color into your layout, such as with Benjamin Moore Colonial Blue (1677) paint or dark purple paint colors from our selection. Want a color that’s a little more laid back? Consider a fun gray or pistachio paint color from Benjamin Moore.

Unsure of what type of paint is best for your wall? We can help you discover the perfect finish, no matter the condition. You can select from various finishes such as Matte, Eggshell, Pearl, Satin, Semi-Gloss, and High-Gloss that offer different sheens and lusters depending on your preference.

Paint Your Base Color with Benjamin Moore Paint

Before starting the painting process, you’ll first want over the floor and any furniture with plastic tarps to catch drips or spills. While you can easily clean some paint types with water and a rag, taking the extra time to cover areas susceptible to paint splatter can save you lots of time with cleanup.

Then, using an angled brush, edge the wall in by painting the outside of each part of the wall. You’ll want to use a roller to apply the base color to the rest of the wall. Once you’ve done that, let the first coat of paint and apply a second coat. If needed, you may need to do a third coat.

Experiment with Your Accent Wall Design

Before you apply the painter’s tape to the wall, it’s best to experiment with design ideas in a sketchpad. Do you want diamond shapes, hexagons, squares, triangles, bricks, or a wild, fun design? The possibilities are endless. Play around with pencil and paper until you develop a design that expresses your personality. If you want help, our team can give you inspiration and ideas based on your personality, room color, and area of the home.

Apply Your Design

Following your idea in the notebook, apply the tape to the wall. If you have opted for a more complicated pattern, you may have to measure for an exact design. Painter’s tape is removable, so if you mess up your design, there is no need to worry. Before you start painting, stand back to observe your work from afar. When you’re happy with how it looks, you can begin applying your secondary color.

Apply Your Secondary Colors

If you have decided to go with a due-tone design, the process will be much easier. You basically paint the entire wall with the second color. Once thoroughly dry, you can remove the paint to reveal your design. Working with multiple colors is a bit more complicated as you have to paint within the shapes with one color at a time, so make sure to take your time during the process.
